"I'm still so very proud of the students who actually did their assignments, and I'm certain that you'll go on to fix some impressive wounds and cure the uncurable diseases!

Remember, this is your last chance to pass the class if you've only done one assignment, so make sure you finish it! Finish the year out with a flair!" Katja smiles at the class, as if daring the students to skip out on this last assignment. "We wouldn't want to have to treat your wounds after the phantasms are done with you now would we?"

MDC 101: Introduction to Medicine

 Katja says:

"As you learned with the last project, bandaging wounds is a very good thing, especially when those wounds are severe. However, there's some injuries and skin conditions that, for one reason or another, can't be bandaged up.

Your assignment is to not only show me what sorts of things can't be simply bandaged, but to show me what you do with those sort of medical conundrums instead.

For example, simply bandaging a rash could serve to irritate it more, so instead of bandaging it immediately you would put some sort of anti-itch cream or poultice on the rash before wrapping a bandage around it.

((Find a condition (wound, rash, magical disease, etc) that should not be simply bandaged. Then find out what you should do instead of just bandaging it up. You can use made-up magical diseases for this assignment))

MDC 102: Identifying and Classifying

 Katja says:

"You made a pair of wonderful teas last month, so it would appear that you have medicinal herbs down fantastically. This would be your third assignment so you don't have to do it, as per the rules of the school, but I would greatly appreciate it if you could categorize the list of diseases that I have in the top left-hand drawer of my desk." She gestures vaguely with a jerk of her head, but obviously can't actually move to get it herself.

She waits for Talia to grab the list before reading off the shakily-written diseases on the list.

"There's:

Lycanthropy

Asthma

Ondine's Curse

Devil Chills

Cooties

Cancer

and The Common Cold"

She rattles them off as if memorized (which they likely had been) and then when she finishes she opens up her eyes again. "All you have to do with those is to say whether they're magical or mundane, fatal or non fatal, a few signature symptoms, and whether or not they can be cured. If they can't be cured you can get bonus points for saying how you would deal with it!"

((Categorize the list of diseases into what sort of disease they are, typical symptoms, and a few other key things about the condition. Spreadsheets are welcome for this assignment!))

MDC 103: Preventing and Fighting Infection

Katja says:

"Oleander came in to me for a checkup and it looks like he's doing just fine. I'm glad you were able to treat the wound properly, especially considering that we tend to focus more on human like creatures!

In light of that, for this project I want you to look at infections in another species and see how it would affect them. Tree spirits are bound to react to an infection much differently than any human, since often they are part tree themselves, as an example. If you want, you can add in how to treat the infection, but what I really want to see is just how the infection works in a different species!"

((Pick a supernatural creature that would have an unusual infection (such as blood demon, tree spirits, or goo monsters) and explain how the infection would progress and affect the individual))

MDC 201 - Anaesthetics and Pain Reduction

Katja says:

"There's more than one way to reduce pain. You've dealt with anaesthetics until now, but for this project I want you to make a pain reducing consumable. Whether this is something put in a food, a liquid, or even a spray of some sort, it must be taken orally. You can use any of the herbs or base ingredients found in the infirmary, but you must make it on your own." Katja smiles at Pet before continuing, "You aren't even required to test it yourself, though it is encouraged to make sure you aren't turning in something that doesn't actually work."

((Make a painkiller that can be eaten/drank. Bonus points for testing it out!))

MDC 202: Physical Injuries

Katja says:

"For the last assignment you dealt with organ damage, but you only had to think about a single organ. For this assignment you will have to explain how one injury can lead to another, since severe injuries rarely affect only one single part of the body.

For example, if you break a rib badly enough, the broken rib can puncture a lung. This is quite painful and leads to a whole myriad of problems for doctors who are trying to fix the injured person. Around here, you see those types of injuries from the monsters that patrol the forest and desert outside the school, and from what I've heard, the creatures in the Shadow Realm.

((Show how one injury can lead to another. Bonus: Explain how the injuries would be dealt with and potential complications that could arise from the injuries))
