She looked excited about something, a project that she wasn't telling anyone about. It probably explained why she was late to class for the first time in her career.
"Greetings and hello! Are you all excited for the holiday season? I hope to receive presents from you, but I understand if you don't love me that much," she laughs. "You all, however, have received the gift of First Aid! Make sure you use these kits wisely, and be safe and smart."
Next to every chair is a small box with a red plus sign on it, each student's name written on their box with shaky smokewriting.

MDC 102: Identifying and Classifying
Katja says:
"Classifying what kind of disease you are dealing with is just as important as knowing the symptoms or the disease itself. You treat influenza much differently from lycanthropy, and so knowing the difference between them is imperative. You will also be finding a disease, magical or mundane, and deciding whether or not it is actually magical or mundane, what sort of thing is causing it (viral, bacterial, parasite, curse, etc.), as well as anything else you might deem relevant to deciding what sort of disease it is."
((Pick a disease (or make one up) and then categorize it. Possible categories could include: magical, lethal, mundane, curse-related, or temporary))

MDC 103: Medicinal Philosophy
Katja says:
"This assignment is simple. We've already gone over non-malificence and respect for autonomy with your first two assignments, but I want to make sure you know what the other rules are so that you can disregard them to their fullest extent. If you have any additional rules to add to the traditional ones, or multiple ways to disregard a single rule, then feel free to increase the length of your essay!"

MDC 104: History of Medicine
Katja says:
"Such interesting essays to read over and listen to. This time you're going to get to write about interesting doctors of the ages! Scientists such as Josef Mengele, or experiments such as Project MKULTRA, or facilities such as Unit 731, while abhorrent to the general public, were incredibly important in furthering our knowledge of medicine and how disease affects a body. Now of course these are the only ones known to history, but there's been plenty of other so called 'mad scientists' throughout the ages. It is your job to write an essay about one of these doctors. They don't have to be a human doctor, or use conventional mundane methods in their treatments, but it's advised that they were some sort of medical officer."
((Your student needs to write about some sort of unethical medical procedure and the doctor that was presiding over it. You can use fictional characters such as Doctor Frankenstein, or real people such as Shiro Ishii or any of the things that Katja mentioned. ::WARNING:: All of the real things mentioned here are absolutely awful and so if you decide to go with that then be prepared to be looking up/reading about some absolutely terrible things involving cruel human testing.
And of course you yourself don't have to write the essay!))

MDC 201: Intermediate Medicine
"It can be difficult, learning how to incorporate everything you've studied thus far into the medical practice. To make sure that you're understanding what you've learned to at least some degree, I want you to demonstrate identification, classification, and treatment of an ailment. You may choose one of the mannequins or you may find a fellow student or even a creature in the forest or desert that might be in need of help. Be sure not to make them suffer too much, and try to bring them back here if you need to do surgery. We also have quite a few antibiotics available for your use, just let me or one of the shadow beasts know and one of us will fetch it for you!"
((Identify and treat a wound or illness in an attempt to incorporate identification, treatment, and the Hippocratic Oath))

MDC 202: Field Medicine
"Sometimes an individual can be gifted with certain skills or features that make healing easier. Vampires tend to have both anticoagulants and enzymes that will heal a wound in their spit and venom, certain creatures have long fingers or nails that make digging out something like a splinter or a bullet easier. Other creatures still have natural healing abilities, and others still can even revive something from death. For this assignment I want you to utilize something that your species grants you. This might be a bit difficult if you don't have any special skills, in which case you can do last month's assignment again. You'll be using the same mannequin regardless, but I'll injure or infect it dependent on the ability you want to test. Good luck!"
((Use an ability that is a byproduct of the species of your student to fix an injury inflicted upon one of the medicine mannequins))

MDC 302: Advanced Magical Medicine
"A no-spill charm that's such a great idea! I'll have to make some more of those in my free time...
"As you might be aware of after perusing the coursebook, this department is not the only one with medicinal studies. Truly, in the budding years of the medicine department we were woefully underequipped to deal with many of the issues that other departments are skilled with.
"Your assignment for this month is to see how knowledge of other departments could help you with your healing. These examples don't all have to be from classes dealing exclusively with healing, though of course I do encourage you to focus on those. Examples might be using fire elementalism for the cauterization of wounds, shadowmancy-created objects and limbs, or any number of spells and incantations across the departments. This department is not the best in teaching the actual practices of magic, but rather it is my task to show you how you can apply those skills to the healing fields. In your next course you'll be learning about how to use these magics in tandem with each other, so familiarizing yourself with them is highly encouraged."
((Find examples where knowing of other departments might be beneficial to healing. Examples are given in above))
MDC 303: Grafting and Mutation
Katja says:
"Here's the exciting bit. Last assignment you were tasked with making sure that siren organs would be compatible with my own 'body'," her smoke made the air quotes when she said the word "body", as odd as it looked. She looked absolutely ecstatic at this assignment, even though those who knew her well would know that she was just as nervous as she was excited. "And the legs before that also needed modifications to be perfect as a transplant. Well! As a final test, you are going to need to attach these!"
With a wink and a grin she bobs in front of Glitch. "Just let me know when you want to get started on the surgery and we can get prepped."
((Put the siren lungs into the torso and then attach the legs to Katja OuO))

MDC 401: Surgery
"With all that you've learned over all of your courses, you will be tasked with performing a surgery as your final test.
"I don't mind what sort of surgery you wish to attempt, whether it be facial reconstruction or heart surgery, or even things as controversial as an abortion. I don't believe we have any pregnancies at the school right now, but I could always be wrong.
"I encourage you to use a friend, but on the off chance that you have nobody willing to put themselves under your knife then there are plenty of
"If I need to intervene at any point I certainly will, but I will only do so if you absolutely cannot handle it. Otherwise I will act as your doctor's aides. You will be allowed to order me around, though do not be rude, your colleagues in the future will appreciate a doctor who is professional."
((Perform surgery successfully! Katja will be in attendance and providing any aid necessary))

MDC 403: Assembly and Reanimation
"And now we get to the fun part!" The teacher looks positively ecstatic, bobbing up and down on her smoky tail. "I debated renaming this class to MDC 403: Creating a Friend, because that is what you're going to do! Or...I suppose you're just going to put everything together and bring it to life but if you've ever wanted a friend this is the perfect chance to make one for yourself!"
"You'll be assembling the subject, so make sure they're properly together and functional-it wouldn't do to have a subject that couldn't breathe because its lungs are in its ass-and then once you have the assembled being I'll take you to the Roof to use our certified Lightning Rod! I've looked at the weather reports so we should have some fantastic thunderstorms this trimester, so you shouldn't have to worry about any of that.
"Then, once everything is completed and they've got a working heartbeat, you'll need to name your new companion! Names are very important, so be sure to give them a good one."
((Put everything together and take it to the rooftop to start its heart! Once it's alive, give it a name. Feel free to add in any mad scientist cackles for extra credit!))
